The coldest Winter I ever surfed was any summer in Carmel.

Silent Reading

I love the sound of silent reading. I have to really listen to hear the boys reading to themselves, but it's music to my nerves.

Return of the King

The sweet face of jet lag.

Internet, looks who's back from Germany! It was 8 long days of dishwasherless, she broke, single parenting  without Hubby.

Welcome home honey! We missed you!

Honey?

"Zzzzzzzzzz," snores Hubby.

Energy

I just ran the boys on the beach. And by boys, I mean puppies. And by puppies, I mean where in the Pacific Ocean do these people get their never ending bounds of energy!?

BEYOND SIGHT, The Derek Rabelo Story

BEYOND SIGHT, The Derek Rabelo Story. from WalkingOnWater on Vimeo.

Internet, this is a trailer from the film, Beyond Sight, The Derek Rabelo Story. Derek is blind and he surfs. But he doesn't just surf regular waves. He surfs the legendary big wave spot Pipeline.

Kelly Slater tweeted this about Derek Rabelo and surfing blindfolded:

I blindfolded myself and tried to catch some waves the other day. Nearly impossible. Can't believe Derek can do it. Inspiring.

I showed the trailer to the boys.

"How does he surf if he can't see?" asks Vinny. "Thats impossible."

"He surfs by feel, and it's not impossible," I say. "It's amazing."

UFO Landing Strip

It probably seems far fetched to most Earthlings, but every time I walk on this beach trail, the adjacent sand dunes reminds me of a UFO landing strip.

Not that I've ever been to a UFO landing strip. But if I have I couldn't tell you because that would be classified information. And if I did tell you, then I'd have to erase your memory banks. And I wouldn't want to do that now would I?

But, if I were an UFO I'd definitely land here..............

Surf!

Vinny and I went surfing yesterday. It had been over a week since we last surfed and we are stoked.

Sneaky People

They're up to something......

And by something I mean they've snuck some tasty treats into the Trader Joe's shopping cart.

OPTP Pro-Roller Soft

Instructional video for using a foam roller.

One of my favorite products for neck and back pain is the OPTP Pro-Roller Soft.

I adore this foam roller because I can lay on it for five or ten minutes, breathing consciously (breathe in 1 2 3 4, exhale 1 2 3 4) for five or ten minutes while my muscles relax.

Internet, tension, muscle pain and headaches melt away.

If you have back and or neck pain I highly recommend this product, and if you buy it from the link provided in this post you're supporting this blog. Thanks!

Succulent Garden

For the last four weeks, Hubby and I have been clearing clutter out of the house. In the endless organizing endeavor I found this serving bowl that I never ever used.

"Honey, can you drill holes in this bowl so I can use it as a planter?" I ask, wondering if it can be done.

"Sure!" says Hubby.

Voila!

Organizing is so much faster with A Lot of help.

Summer School

Yesterday, someone asked me, "Is your husband teaching summer school?"

My answer; pretty much.

Bath Time

Tonight, I relaxed in a spa. The spa down the hall, in my house.

Internet I took my first bath in the nearly complete (Marie stop laughing!) bathroom remodel.

It. Was. So. Relaxing.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm going to sleep like a passed out drunk tonight.

20

Today is the 20th anniversary of the day Hubby and I met in traffic school, on a fateful Saturday in 1992.

A lot has happened over the last two decades not necessarily in this order: an apartment, a house, our beloved animal friends, saying goodbye to loved ones, bringing new ones onto the Earth, lice, appendicitis, remodeling, insomnia, surfing, parenting.

Looking back it feels like we've been together forever, but in retropsect forever has gone by really fast.

It hasn't always been easy, but for the most part it's been crazy fun. And by crazy I mean me.

I love you, Honey!

I'm Sexy And I Know It

Last weekend we went to a fabulous wedding. Somehow Gio found himself alone on the dance floor getting jiggy to "I'm Sexy and I Know It."

"Do not put that video on YouTube," says Gio.

After realizing I had already uploaded it to YouTube, he asks, "How many hits did I get?"

Ping Pong

Ping pong is great exercise for the brain as it requires hand eye coordination.

Table tennis is also aerobic, especially when I run up and down the driveway while Hubby searches for the lost ball.

Gotta Surf

"Mom, when are we going surfing?" asks Vinny ALL DAY LONG.

"Soon," I say, ALL DAY LONG.

I was hoping he would forget about surfing today because I needed a break. He remembered and we made it out eventually for a sunset session.

After surfing he says, "I'm going to take a day off from surfing tomorrow, okay?  I'm exhausted."

"Yeah, well I could have used a break today so we'll see," I say.

Happy Fourth of July!

Until tonight Gio thought these (see picture above) were fireworks. Sadly, now he knows words like "M80", and "nuclear bomb."

Oh well, at least he still runs in the house shrieking every time someone lights a firecracker.

In the words of Vinny,"Fourth of July is my least favorite holiday."

Happy Fourth of July!

Pedicure

"Will you paint my toenails, please?" I ask.

"Sure!" says Hubby to my surprise.

"Okay now what?" asks Hubby, after applying the first coat of nail polish.

"You apply a second coat," I say.

"It looks pretty good," says Hubby." You don't need a second coat."

"Yes I do!" I exclaim.

"You're lucky he's even doing it at all," Vinny points out.
