Lotus Flower Radiohead
Tweet ThisI'm listening to this song, "Lotus Flower," by Radiohead and watching the video with Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, thinking, "Hey maybe I am cool enough to listen to Radiohead?!"
Though since I love this dubbed version of, "Single Ladies," with Thom Yorke playing the role of the dumped lover, probably not.

Sugarland Live On The Inside On Sale Today
Tweet This
I'm having Sugar withdrawals. Sugarland withdrawals that is. The Sugarland television concert last night only made my cravings worse. I believe that was the marketers' intention.
Fortunately, my withdrawals seem to have arrived just in time for the release of Sugarland's new 2 disc CD/DVD combo set of "Live On The Inside," today!!!!!!
Though I must say showing the concert on TV, followed by an immediate CD/DVD release the next day, makes me want to vomit just a little bit. Marketing can be so nauseating, most of the time.
The live disc set will be sold exclusively at Walmart for $12 bucks. More marketing induced nausea.
Inlcuded on the DVD are 16 live concert performances filmed last fall from their Love On The Inside tour. The DVD consists mainly of Sugarland's mega hits from, "Stay," to "Baby Girl," but there are a few REM covers on the DVD.
Over half the tracks on the 10 track CD, are cover songs of bands Sugarland loves to cover, including Kings of Leon, REM and Beyonce.
Wow, maybe they should've been a cover band. Actually, I love all their cover songs, especially Tom Petty's "American Girl" and Def Leopard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me." Unfortunately, neither of those cover songs made the CD.
I can't help but wonder with this wide range of musical genre cover songs, could Sugarland be breaking out of the contemporary country genre into a more alternative one? I listened to some of the sample tracks on the CD, and I thought I heard less twang in Jennifer Nettles' voice. But maybe it's just my imagination, or wishful thinking on my part, or some combination of both.
I would love to get my hands on the UK version of Love On The Inside, which filtered out Jennifer Nettles twang, to suit the Brits' musical tastes. But I will take Nettles' voice with or without twang.
I'm off to buy the new Sugarland CD/DVD combo. And it has nothing to do with the marketing, I think..........for myself..............I hope.

Fever Beyonce
Tweet This
Well, I'm not looking or feeling hot like Beyonce is, in this video, but I have a fever. Yes, I have a fever, but it has nothing to do with getting all hot and bothered.
It's not the fun kind of fever. It's the lay on the couch all day long, and look outside saying "it's too nice of a day to be sick," kind of fever.
Although listening to this song is helping....I'm getting to the point where the fever is transforming from the shivers and chills, to the inconsolable, burning hot, gotta take off all my.........blankets.
Yes, I'm starting to feel better, which reminds me of another song. To be continued tomorrow..........

Shane Mercado Can Dance!
Tweet This
I found this video of Shane Mercado, dancer extraordinaire, on urlesque.com. The video parody of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" won Urlies 2008 Best Dancer award. His outfit cracks me up every time I watch it.
How smart is a guy who can learn the choreography of a dance from watching it on video? Brilliant!
Not only did he out dance BeeeYonCeee, but he started a wave of YouTube videos imitating him and/or Beyonce. Shane, you are such an inspiring trend setter.
I love it!
He said it took him a couple of days to learn the dance. I LOVE! YouTube. Where else can a creative, talented, funny person put his stuff out for all the world to see and appreciate? Tell me, please. I will go there, right now.
Shane and Beyonce Split Screen.
Shane appeared on the Bonnie Hunt Show with the Single Ladies video green screened behind him. His segment from the show went viral, now has several million hits, and Shane was invited back to perform in front of a 70s green screen.
I was so excited when I saw Shane out dancing John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever to the tune of, "You Should Be Dancing," I couldn't wait to show my Mom.
"I think he might be better than John Travolta," my Mom said. And let's face it, Shane is having so much more FUN! than Mr. Macho Can't Deal With His Feelings Tony Manero, John Travolta's character in SNF.
When I was a kid, family and friends used to come to our house to practice their disco dancing because we had a large open area. I can still see them in mind's eye, even now.
Beyonce gives props to Shane.
