Stand Up Paddleboard South Lake Tahoe

Tweet This

Here's the view from the stand up paddleboards (SUP's) of South Lake Tahoe, and her majestic snow capped mountains. SUP's are a great, non-invasive, environmentally friendly way to experience Lake Tahoe.

Even though the Lake is flat, Vinny and I, managed to catch a few boat wake waves, on the SUP, today. Wooooohoooooo! Now that's what I call heaven.

It is nice to know I can experience Goddess, in places other than the Ocean.

The Girl With The Dragonfly Tattoo

Tweet This

Oh my goodness Internet!!!!! Today at the pool I saw the Girl With The Dragonfly Tattoo. Like the real girl, not the book.

"Stefan look at that girl she has a dragonfly tattoo on her back!" I exclaim.

"Uh, where?" asks Stefan.

"Over there," I say pointing subtly with my chin.

"That's not a dragonfly, that's an angel," claims Stefan.

"No, that is a dragonfly," I clarify.

Then I had to explain why it was funny.

"You know like the book.....'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,' but instead of a dragon tattoo it's a dragonfly tattoo," I say. "That's practically the same thing, but apparently, dragonflies are more social because she smiled when we walked in. Lisbeth Salander would never do that."

"Oh, I get it!" says Stefan. "Are you going to ask if you can take a picture."

"Ugh, I would, but I don't have my phone," I say sadly.

But there's always tomorrow.

Don't Take My Picture

Tweet This

Internet, I know you're probably wondering why Vinny's picture is not on the blog as often as I'd like. Well, the truth is, he's camera shy.

I remember saying, "stop taking my picture," to my Mama, growing up. Ah, the pattern repeats.

I voted!

I voted. I hope we don't have to waste anymore money on unnecessary elections.

It is ridiculous to have two elections two weeks apart. That cost money Internet. Money we could be spending on education. Our future.

Surfing Isn't My Sport

Tweet This

Can you find the fish?

"Vinny you need to learn how to paddle into waves on your own," I say.

"Surfing isn't really my sport," says Vinny.

"Well, what's this then?" I ask, making a paddling motion with my arms.

"The problem is your body is not in the water, it's on the surface, explains Vinny."

Ah, spoken like a true fish.  And everyone knows, surfers are fish, first.

Seems as if I sprained my ankle.  And there's waves! Ugh

I need a do over.  I should have picked, "let's play doctor," instead of "I need a doctor."

Doin' It

Tweet This

Thirteen years ago today, we said, "I do." And fortunately, we are still doin' it.

Thank goodness, since it is one of my favorite forms of exercise. Remember that Madonna song, "sexercise my love?" Maybe that isn't how the words go, Internet, but I'm sure you get my point.

Odd, it seems like we've been together forever, yet it feels like we met just yesterday.

Marriage is the second most challenging undertaking I have chosen in this life. Anyone who says it's easy, and perfect, and all that carp is LYING.

But I love him more than ever (sob sob sob). We laugh together everyday. And I'm sure it helps that we both have yellow and violet in our auras (I also have some blue, he has some tan).

We truly are partners, who are not in the least bit threatened by gay marriage.

Perhaps, we should abolish marriage all together? Let's create a new version titled, "Partnership; working together on our perpetual work in progress."

I'm talking about civil rights here, folks. Now there's something to wave a flag over. (It's also flag day, so that was a joke, insert laughter.)

All those in favor say, "I do!"

Birthday Breakfast

My baby is 9 today! Almost as tall as me. Reads faster than I do. Super smart.  Fun to hang out with!

Yes, parenting is by far my most perplexing, challenging  undertaking. But I wouldn't trade it for all the perfect waves in the world.

Happy Birthday Vinny cha cha cha! I love you!

Yin and Yang

Tweet This

This Rolling Stone magazine cover caught my eye at the grocery store today.  It's these types of images that keep me cuming backing for more, not the actual need for food.

Yes, I'm a fan of using blatant sexuality from consenting adults, in marketing, cause Internet, not only does sex sell, it's fun!

He's the perfect balance of masculine and feminine energies.  And I'm guessing  his aura is made of fun (yellow) and inspiration (violet).

Cause I know I'm having fun and feeling inspired. Uh, what's his name, anyways?

Actually I first saw comic actor Russel Brand in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and I thought he was a hot mess with a sexy Brittish accent. Anyways, click the link to read the article he isn't just another pretty face, he's funny and smart too! My kind of guy!

Surf Check

Tweet This

Flat, sigh, I'm missing nothing.

After swim lessons today, I needed a surf check, visual look at the ocean to see what she's doing, and what I am missing.

"Why are we going to the beach?" quips a child from the backseat.

Only a surfer's kids would complain about going by the beach for a looksy. Or maybe just my kids.

"Are you seriously asking me why we're going to the beach?" I ask in amazement.

If these guys don't know me by now, they may never know me.

"Oh yeah," they answer. "We know."

Is there anything better than a sunset surf, after a hard day's work? Maybe for some, but not for this Surfer Girl. Plus, tomorrow, I'm not even gonna have a hangover.

Bros

Tweet This

Oh my goodness! Moments like these, remind me why I turned down the crazy road of parenting two kids, instead of just one, in the first place.  L.O.V.E.

Sanity is completely overrated, and fairly boring from what I remember, anyways. Or was it quiet and peaceful, like the Dalai Lama's mind? Oh well, probably a good thing I've already forgotten what life used to be like.

Learning To Swim

Tweet This

Seems like yesterday, when I was a child, clinging for my life, to the side of the pool. Glad my Mama made sure I learned how to swim, literally and figuratively.
Staying a float helps a lot in surfing, and in life.

And as parent, it is probably one of the most important lessons I can pass on to my kids.

Beauty Shrouded in Fog

Tweet This

Today the waves did not warrant a 4:30 a.m. rise from bed, no thanks to the cat.  But the sun mingled with the fog in such a mysterious and glorious way that I didn't mind too much.

My phone camera didn't exactly capture the moment. Note to self: Stop being lazy and transfer pictures from camera to computer, and charge camera battery.

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

Tweet This

Molly and Kendra.

To learn more about Molly's Avon Walk for Breast Cancer click here.

I just found out my AMAZING friend Molly is walking in this weekend's Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago.

She lives in California, Internet. How awesome is that? Completely and utterly awesome.

Molly has already raised $3803.00, and there is still time to donate.

I just made a donation in memory of my dear friend Sproutie Garrin, who passed away from breast cancer. We share the same birthday. And from time to time she visits me in her angelic form.

If Molly can go all the way to Chicago and walk 39 miles this Saturday and Sunday, to raise money for breast cancer research, then a donation is the least I can do.

And if you would like to do something too, click the link to Molly's Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

Thanks!!!!

"But we need to clean the whole house," he says.

He definitely doesn't take after me.

Five Minutes Later

"I'm tired!" says Gio. "I can't do anymore."

Then again, maybe he does take after me.
