I love the words in this song! Because it's true. If you get lost you can always be found. Especially if you ask for DIRECTIONS. And by directions, I mean help. (I'm not just talking to the guys, here, ladies.)
That's why were all here anyways, right? To lend our fellow brothers and sisters assistance when they're down on the ground and need a hand up from that low place in life.
So go ahead and ask for help today. It's okay.
P.S. You may have to ask more than one person..........
"Grilled Cheesus," where Finn makes a grilled cheese sandwich with Jesus' image, was not my favorite Glee episode. But it begs the age old questions, "Does God exist?" and "What is faith?"
The episode did a great job covering all the view points, from believers to non-believers, and reminded me of my own spirituality.
I'm always looking for fast easy ways to stay in balance, and get in my body. This quick video is perfect. It focuses on breathing and feeling the body, two requirements for getting grounded.
And remember everything you need to know is in the moment. Be. Here. Now.
By the way, my Mama loved this song! Gio+Nana=Soul Mates.
"I want to watch the guy with the funny hat and the purple suit," says Gio.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say Chuck Mangione has some violet in his aura. Yes, Internet, we tend to wear our aura colors as our sleeves, literally. And violets are easy to spot because there is usually an air of peculiarity surrounding them.
I mean Obama has his ears, Chuck has his hat, and I have my surfboard, which is fairly odd for a 42-year-old mama of two. If you know me then you've probably grown accumstomed to my surfing lifestyle. But if you could walk a mile in my surf booties, you would realize I get A LOT of funny looks, and raised eyebrows, when I'm on my daily surf mission.
This Rolling Stone magazine cover caught my eye at the grocery store today. It's these types of images that keep me cuming backing for more, not the actual need for food.
Yes, I'm a fan of using blatant sexuality from consenting adults, in marketing, cause Internet, not only does sex sell, it's fun!
He's the perfect balance of masculine and feminine energies. And I'm guessing his aura is made of fun (yellow) and inspiration (violet).
Cause I know I'm having fun and feeling inspired. Uh, what's his name, anyways?
Actually I first saw comic actor Russel Brand in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and I thought he was a hot mess with a sexy Brittish accent. Anyways, click the link to read the article he isn't just another pretty face, he's funny and smart too! My kind of guy!
On the surface, we all look different from each other. Varying shades of eye color, different skin colors, different aura colors. But we're all made of the same stuff, energy, blood, flesh and bone.
We have different preferences from the food we eat, to what we think is fun, to who we love, to the gods and goddesses we worship.
But there is one thing that we all have in common. Love. We all want to be loved for who we are. Period.
That is so simple, y'all. Yet, elusive. Instead, we focus on each other's faults, often forgetting what we see in someone else's eyes, is our own reflection.
The thing is we can't love each other until we love ourselves, first. With all of our perfect imperfections, flaws and quirks.
Embrace love, embrace yourself, heal the world.
Just for today, every time you have a negative thought about yourself (or someone else) add this phrase "__________________ I love myself completely and deeply."
For example, "even though I don't like my job, I love myself completely and deeply."
Let me know how it goes. I love feedback. Or if you need extra help shoot me an email, please. I'm here to help. It's my nature.
I never thought I'd have a girl crush on an 88-year-old woman, but after watching Betty White host Saturday Night Live yesterday, I do. Betty, is the oldest and funniest person ever to host SNL.
And I want to be just like her when I grow up. If I ever do grow up, that is.
Besides, I'm fairly certain, we have matching auras, so that shouldn't be hard!
If you missed Betty on SNL, watch the skits here on my blog. Betty does not disappoint, or hold back. So while she may be the same age as your granny, you may want not to watch it with her. Betty is very, very naughty.
Somehow, Betty manages to make MacGrubber funny. MacGrubber is never funny, and always annoying.
Even if you already saw it, watch it, again. And again. This should get all of us through Monday, by golly. There are 19 skits, that have tiny commercial breaks between them, so don't freak out, it's working.
Laughter is the best medicine. And Betty's doin' it right. And by the looks of it, still doin' it. Did I mention I want to be Betty White when I grop up? Cause. I. Do.
Several years ago, while dropping Vinny off at school, we ran into a few of his friends. One of the girls, in particular, was thrilled with her lunch.
"I have a chocolate sandwich for lunch!" exclaimed the girl. "Want to see it?"
Before we could answer, she hastily pulled out her sandwich and showed us. The sandwich already had a few bites missing and it was barely 8 am. She then proceeded to take another bite, before packing it back up, for lunch.
Though, I'm fairly certain her chocolate delight never made it to the lunch hour.
My focus for the last three or four years, has been simple, yet terrifying. Being me. Not some pretend version of me, or a version anyone else wants me to be.
It's not as scary as it was in the beginning. But frequently lurking in the back of mind is the thought, "this person isn't going to like me if I say what I'm really feeling, seeing, thinking."
How could someone not like a fun, honest, inspiring person? That's what I tell myself anyways. When I speak my truth, I usually remember, it is MY truth, not the other person's truth, though I'm right about 80% of the time. ;-)
And at some point, I realize the truth of the saying, "it's none of my business what other people think of me."
I highly recommend it. It's fun being me. I'm more in tune with my intuition, my own feelings, subconscious thought patterns, and what other people are thinking and feeling.
This allows me to be more compassionate with myself, as well as everyone else. And right about now, the world could use more compassion.
This week on Glee, the cast performed, "Lean On Me," their most inspiring performance to date, in my opinion.
They are so uplifting, I highly recommend watching it, NOW. It's free "I feel better already" therapy, y'all! I couldn't embed the video, so to watch the clip from this week's episode of Glee "Lean On Me," click here
Or if you just want to listen, here's the song by the cast. I'm gonna do both, at least, 5 times each, to start the day.
Yesterday, my friend and I took a quick afternoon trip down the coast for a surf, though I'm sure my husband wouldn't describe six hours as quick. Thank you, honey! Anyways, along the way I took some pictures.
"How many times did you pull over to take pictures?" asks Stefan.
"Only once," I say laughing. "But it didn't really count because we were stopped for road construction."
Yes, these pictures could be so much better, but all I had was my phone. Thank goodness, something is better than nothing. Besides, the driver thinks she is Speed Racer, and she was also itching to surf, so these shots actually came out half way decent when all that is taken into consideration.
But that isn't the point. The point is every day I have to pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming up this beautiful place I call home. Amen.
One of my favorite shows of all time is Touched by An Angel. At the very end of every show the angel would always get an auric glow about her. Then, when she was fully illuminated she would utter my favorite lines on the show, to the troubled character of that particular episode.
Does anyone remember what the angel used to say to ease the burden of the wounded soul?
"Yes, that's right you in the back can you please stand up and speak clearly into the microphone," I say.
"God Loves You," an audience member answers correctly.
Ding, ding, ding!
It was the same every week. I never got tired of hearing those words: God Loves You.
Period.
Yes, no matter what, I know SHEloves me, and you, and you, and you, and you..................
And guess what y'all! This is one of my favorite songs from the Touched By An Angel Soundtrack, "Testify To Love," by Wynonna Judd.
So I just thought I'd back up my Smiley Face Holiday with some research via this 34 second video.
And now I'm going to add a twist to the smile because I'm feeling a bit grumpy at the moment.
Okay here I go.
I'm smiling and breathingat the same time.
2 minutes pass.
I'm feeling very high and happy. Not grumpy anymore. I'm not even surfing! Not even on any drugs, Internet. Now I totally understand the meaning of high on life.
Though I believe if I smile every time I breathe I will soon pass out. Oh well, everything in moderation, I suppose.
