Lady Gaga Sugarland
Tweet ThisHoly awesome sauce, Internet. Last night, Sugarland performed with Lady Gaga at the Grammy Nominations Concert. Sugarland and Gaga gave a memorable performance of Gaga's, "You and I."
I am freaking out! This is amazing. Two of my favorite performers sharing the stage. How am I ever going to go back to sleep?

Come On Eileen Sugarland and Sara Bareilles
Tweet ThisThis may be one of the funnest cover songs ever! I know I posted a version of Sugarland performing "Come on Eileen," with Sara Bareilles in concert, but this version is better. In fact, it's so good, it's worth another post.
Their fun is infectious. Now, let's dance! Besides, the the twenty and thirty somethings have probably never even heard this song before.

Sugarland at Californ Mid State Fair Paso Robles

Dynamic Duo Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush.
When Hubby and I sat down in our center stage Row 17 seats for the Sugarland concert they seemed like great seats. And they were until all the drunk and tall people arrived for the Sugarland concert.
Fortunately, the drunks were confident twenty-something girls, who obnoxiously told the tall people, "sit down, so we can see."
Go drunk girls! Oh and thanks for not falling or puking on me.
Back to the concert.
Honestly, after watching Sara Bareilles perform, I was tired, cold and in need of a blankie and a nap. But then her hotness, Jennifer Nettles, looking sexy svelte in black, took to the stage and I remembered why I was there.
I love Jennifer Nettles, in a Katy Perry kind of way.
Yes, I know Sugarland is a duo, but I find Ms. Nettles deliciously inspiring, even in the company of distracting drunks, whom in most venues, would have been the main attraction. The bossy girls were all over each other, in an "I Kissed A Girl," kind of way.
"I love you!" cry the drunk girls, embracing.
If I go to another Sugarland concert, it's got to be 10th row or better, minus the drunks and their snazzy light up cocktails.
"Ugh," moans Hubby as he's reading this post. "I'm Sugarland out."
The concert set list was fun and inspiring, save for "Stay," which since she leaves I guess IS inspiring, but not fun at all.
Sugarland performed new songs such as "Stuck Like Glue," "Find The Beat Again," and others. They didn't leave out the old songs either including, "Baby Girl," "Everyday American," "All I Want To Do," and more.
I found the medley especially fun. Watch it here and you'll see why.
And I loved their 80s flashback cover of Dexys Midnight Runners "Come On Eileen," with Sara Bareilles. It was Freaking AWESOME!!!!!!
Here's some of the non-blurry pictures I managed to take of the concert. Oh by the way, does anyone have rows 1-5 tickets to see Sugarland, August 26th at Shoreline? No matter, what they say I can never get enough Sugar.
"Pour some sugar on meh!"

Stayin' Alive Sugarland
Tweet ThisI would say Jennifer Nettle's yellow aura is stayin' alive in a bright and shiny kind of way. Nettles doesn't take herself too seriously, and she obviously knows how to have fun. A girl after my own heart!
I think my disco Mama is going to like this one.

Surf, Surf, Surf
Tweet ThisI have a feeling, these people (in the video) would sing for free. Which is exactly how I feel about surfing. I would totally surf for free. Uh, Wait a second. Actually, I already do surf for free, so never mind.
When I tell people, I surf, pretty much everyday, waves and schedule willing, the response I get is, "do you compete or something?"
"No," I say. "I don't even like contests. All that waiting around to surf, avoiding over surfing, so my arms don't turn to jell-o mid-heat. I'd rather just go surf, until my arms fall off."
I love surfing as much today, as the first time I caught a wave over 24 years ago. And even though it may never make me rich, it makes me happy. Though it may send me to rehab, for the more I surf, the more I want to surf. Surfing is my crack.
Surfing gets me in my body, and in the moment. Surfing is my workout and my meditation. Without waves, life on this planet would be so much harder for me. I feel blessed to have surfing and lucky to have the TIME, and live in a place that allows me to dance on water daily.
I know surfing isn't for everyone. But if I could have one wish it would be for everyone to have their own version of surfing, whether it be music, acting, art, gardening, they can escape to on a regular basis.
Everyone deserves to play everyday. Having fun isn't just for kids, and it may be the true fountain of youth. An activity shouldn't have to bring a person monetary gain, to have value and importance.

The NFL Sunday Night Theme Song
Tweet This
Hey Internet, Sugarland was on the Today Show last Friday, but I was too lazy to Tivo it. Thank goodness for YouTube.
Not only did Sugarland perform crowd favorites, "Stuck Like Glue," and "All I Wanna Do," but they also performed the NFL theme song. Yeah, I didn't even know there was an NFL theme song.
The NFL Sunday Night theme song sounds just like that song by Joan Jett, "I Hate Myself For Loving You," but with different words. And is probably representative of how some wives feel about their husbands, during Sunday Night Football.
When I take my Jennifer Nettles impersonation band on the road, I won't be singing that song. I promise.

Sugarland Stuck Like Glue

Sugarland's new video for "Stuck Like Glue," is hillarious and scary all at the same time. Sugarland's front girl Jennifer Nettles, has a stellar career in acting if she chooses.
And I hope she does!
The video pays homage to stalkers everywhere, with Nettles reprising Kathy Bates' role in Misery. Not only that, Nettles goes for it, in an Olivia Newton John inspired leotard, while channel dancing Beyonce.
And I almost overlooked Nettles rapping out to a reggae beat in part of the song!
"Oh! Emmmm! Geeee!"
Internet, you've got to see it, to believe it, so watch the video, y'all. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the first time in approximately two years, that Sugarland has released fresh, new material. Though I guess their Christmas album had some originals on it.
Anyways, here's their new single, "Stuck Like Glue," off their next album, which won't be released until October. The song can be downloaded for a buck twenty-nine on Itunes. Enjoy!

Sugarland "Keep You"

Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!! I was watching this video thinking to myself, "there are a lot of people who feel unhappy about the relationship they're in, and I'm glad I'm not one of them."
And then Jennifer Nettles did the most amazing thing ever. And no she didn't take off all her clothes. Too bad. Oh well, she looks hot in that jacket/dress get up.
Oh back to the video. Anyways, I thought it was just about another co-dependent relationship, been there, done that. But really it's about so much more. It's about change. The kind of change that causes a person to go and cut all their hair off. Yeah, I can relate to that.

Happy Ending Sugarland
Tweet This
One of my favorite bands of all time is Sugarland. Not because I'm a huge country fan, or I'm addicted to twang. But because Sugarland writes great songs. Some are fun, some are sad, and my favorites are inspiring and speak volumes of truth regarding the human spirit.
This particular song, "Happy Ending," has some of the most inspiring lyrics of any song stuck in my little MP3 player mind.
Oh and let's not forget the Martin Luther King and the first astronauts to walk on the moon references. Those are some of this country's most inspiring leaders ever. Yeah, I could go on and on, but I need to go surfing. And I know y'all are smart and get what I'm saying. Even if you don't like country, listen to the words, they're inspiring.

"We're all lookin' for a happy ending," really applies to all of us. "We come here with nothing and take it with us the day we leave, first and last breath don't matter it's all the ones that are in between."

Sugarland vs Pearl Jam "Better Man"
Tweet This
My favorite song on Sugarland's new CD "Live On The Inside," is the cover, "Better Man." In fact, I like it a lot more than the original by Pearl Jam, sorry PJ fans.
Turns out Sugarland has all kinds of music up in them, they aren't just about Country, y'all.
Anyways, which do you like better? Please take a second to fill out the poll in the upper left side bar column, under the Are You Breathing? title. I promise it's painless and easier than commenting, darn spammers! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sugarland Live On The Inside On Sale Today

I'm having Sugar withdrawals. Sugarland withdrawals that is. The Sugarland television concert last night only made my cravings worse. I believe that was the marketers' intention.
Fortunately, my withdrawals seem to have arrived just in time for the release of Sugarland's new 2 disc CD/DVD combo set of "Live On The Inside," today!!!!!!
Though I must say showing the concert on TV, followed by an immediate CD/DVD release the next day, makes me want to vomit just a little bit. Marketing can be so nauseating, most of the time.
The live disc set will be sold exclusively at Walmart for $12 bucks. More marketing induced nausea.
Inlcuded on the DVD are 16 live concert performances filmed last fall from their Love On The Inside tour. The DVD consists mainly of Sugarland's mega hits from, "Stay," to "Baby Girl," but there are a few REM covers on the DVD.
Over half the tracks on the 10 track CD, are cover songs of bands Sugarland loves to cover, including Kings of Leon, REM and Beyonce.
Wow, maybe they should've been a cover band. Actually, I love all their cover songs, especially Tom Petty's "American Girl" and Def Leopard's "Pour Some Sugar On Me." Unfortunately, neither of those cover songs made the CD.
I can't help but wonder with this wide range of musical genre cover songs, could Sugarland be breaking out of the contemporary country genre into a more alternative one? I listened to some of the sample tracks on the CD, and I thought I heard less twang in Jennifer Nettles' voice. But maybe it's just my imagination, or wishful thinking on my part, or some combination of both.
I would love to get my hands on the UK version of Love On The Inside, which filtered out Jennifer Nettles twang, to suit the Brits' musical tastes. But I will take Nettles' voice with or without twang.
I'm off to buy the new Sugarland CD/DVD combo. And it has nothing to do with the marketing, I think..........for myself..............I hope.

It Happens Sugarland ATT Park San Francisco July 18
Tweet This
Hey y'all does anyone remember what this Saturday is? The man and I are going to AT&T Park, the stadium where the San Francisco Giants play. But we aren't going to watch a bunch of grown men run around in tight pants, chewing their wad. No.
We're going to see SUGARLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I'm a little excited. I love this song, because let's face it, life doesn't always go the way I plan it, not that I spend a whole lot of time planning. Instead of spending all my energy trying to control or figure out what's gonna happen next, it's much easier being in the moment, observing life.
Sometimes I forget this. And when I do, I play this song and dance, "It Happens," to get me back in the moment. Plus, I like the "pssssh.........it happens," part. Lyrics like that, make me laugh out loud.

Sugarland B52s Love Shack CMT Music Awards 2009
Tweet This
I love that Sugarland performed "Love Shack," at the Country Music Television Music Awards. They're so alternative!
Yes, Sugarland pays homage to the band that sang "Love Shack," originally, by bringing the B52s on stage with them. Not only are there black people on the CMT Music Awards now, but there's the B52s, and a man in drag, from what I could see.
"There's hope for change, people."
As far as I know the B52s aren't even country, yet. Though any day now there may only be one music genre left, and it's going to be country. Because, that's where the money's at, y'all. It isn't as if all music will sound like country, they're just gonna call all music, "country," for financial purposes.
Don't believe, me just ask Taylor Swift. So what if she writes her own songs, tweets and updates her own Facebook status, she can't sing, live anyways. But those may be the very reasons she won Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year. Thanks MTV.
I'm not a Taylor Hater. She's great, and for the record she's a decent rapper. I'm still wondering why she didn't hostess the CMT Music Awards. Maybe next year.
Here are my tweets from the CMT Music Awards 2009
