Carissa Moore, 2011 ASP Women's World Surfing Champion, should inspire small children and grown ups alike, whether they surf or not. I know she inspires me.

Moore, in only her second year on the world surfing tour, and at the tender age of 18, is the youngest person to win the surfing world title. Prior to Moore's crowning, the youngest ever title winner was Kelly Slater, who won his first world title at age 20.

I'm sure Slater doesn't mind being stripped of one of his many records. Besides, he's still the youngest male to win a world title.

From Kelly Slater's Twitter Feed Yesterday:

@CarissaMoore92 congratulations. Youngest ever world champ! Great job......

THANK U ALL SO MUCH! THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE FOR ME, BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! THANK YOU! CONGRATS TO @Steph_gilmore FOR WINNING THE ROXY PRO!

I'm sure this won't be Moore's last title. Moore is the epitomy of progressive women's surfing. She has the charisma and ability to take women's surfing to the next level by inspiring past, present and future generations of women surfers around the world.

Congratulations!!!!
